8 Powerful Life Lessons I Wish I Knew Earlier
There are important life lessons that you will wish you knew earlier in life because they will save you from disappointments, problems, and tragedies.
It can be in your relationships, social life, or career life. The main reason life lessons are important is that they will get you further in life.
- If you knew that lesson before, you would have gotten that lost opportunity.
- If you knew that lesson, you wouldn’t have destroyed that precious relationship.
But this is how life teaches you. Life lessons aren’t taught with instructions like in school. You take a test, make a mistake, then learn your lesson.
In my life journey (still writing it), I achieved a lot, met many different people, and went through many experiences.
The two things I was seeking were lessons and experiences. I read a lot of books, talked with great minds (not yet famous), and formulated my thoughts out of these experiences.
From these experiences, I learned lessons that I will talk about here.
8 Powerful Life Lessons
1. To improve your mood: exercise
I used to ignore the idea of exercising to improve my mood until I tried it.
Exercise has many benefits; it improves both your physical and mental health.
Writing an article is so boring and takes time (around 2-3 hours). Before you start writing, your mind will try to distract you and it’s easier to get distracted these days.
But exercise helps me a lot. If I’m hesitating to start typing, I do 20-30 push-ups. It improves my mood and gets me in the mood to get any task done.
Exercise can:
- Reduce anxiety, depression, and negative mood
- Improve self-esteem and cognitive functions
- Increase energy and stamina
- Reduce tiredness
- Release stress
Now you know what to do when you want to improve your mood.
2. To think clearly: meditate
Clear thinking can help you make the right decision. But to reach that state of mind; meditate.
You can meditate in a calm place. The goal of mediation is to clear your mind from shuttered and junk thoughts.

3. To understand the world: read
You will continue to think you know everything about life until you read a book.
Books make you understand the world more because you see it through someone else’s perspective.
There are many books published and each author is talking about something he/she learned in life.
Reading books expands your capacity of understanding situations which makes you make better decisions.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once quoted:
“If we encounter a man of rare intellect, we should ask him what books he reads.”
Ralph Waldo
4. To understand yourself: write
One of life’s difficult tasks is to know yourself. Most people think they know themselves without actually knowing them.
To deeply know yourself, start writing your thoughts. What you write shouldn’t be restricted by any rules; you simply have to write exactly what comes out of your mind.
It can be bad, dark, interesting, boring, weird, new, or amazing. Don’t judge, just write. That’s how you get to know yourself from the inside.
5. To help others: help yourself
This might be confusing, but let me make it clear. It’s the same scenario with changing the world.
Many people think about changing the world and making it a better place, not knowing that it’s a big task they can’t do.
The best and only thing you can do is change yourself. Direct the same energy and thoughts you have toward others to yourself.
You can help people who ask for your help (if you can), but don’t go out of your way and dedicate your life just to helping others and forgetting yourself. Start helping yourself first.
6. To grow faster: stay consistent
Consistency is everything. Without consistency, your hard work and discipline will mean nothing.
Sometimes you have to stay consistent for months or years to get that one day that will change your life.
Hard and smart work is important, but consistency is more important.
7. To learn faster: have fun
The best way to learn anything faster is to enjoy the process of learning.
We learn difficult subjects in schools in difficult ways, which makes learning hard.
But if you love a subject and are curious about it, you will learn it faster.
The next time you are facing difficulty learning; see the fun part of what you are learning. This will accelerate the learning process.
8. To get loved: love others
Start first by giving love to receive love. Don’t get twisted in your thoughts thinking you should receive love when you don’t give any.
Conclusion
You don’t have to learn all lessons in life through mistakes. You can learn some in books and from people.
